Boden's Mate
Boden's Mate uses two bishops on crossing diagonals against a king boxed in by its own pieces. One bishop gives check while the other controls the king's escape.
What to look for
Look for a confined king and two bishops whose diagonals cross around it.
Recognize the mechanism
Trace both bishop diagonals toward the king’s neighborhood. One bishop supplies the check and the other removes an escape, while the defender’s own pieces finish the confinement. Study the two diagonals separately, then combine their coverage.
Common practical mistake
Two bishops on the board are not enough. The crossing-diagonal confinement matters. Compare Double Bishop Mate without treating every two-bishop finish as Boden’s Mate.
