How to Learn Chess Openings
The opening trainer helps you learn common opening positions by repetition and understanding.
Practice method
Build a small repertoire around positions you actually reach. Play the line, explain the purpose of each move, then recall it without looking. Revisit missed moves and compare the resulting pawn structure with a master game. Add a branch only when you understand where it diverges.
Avoid this habit
Memorizing a long sequence without recognizing the opponent’s alternatives leaves you lost at the first deviation. Return to development, central control and king safety when the position leaves your remembered line.
Training goal
Remember openings through ideas, not only memorized moves.
