Queen Fork
A fork or double attack creates two threats at the same time, so the opponent cannot answer both.
What to look for
Look for checks or attacks that hit the king, queen, rook, loose pieces, or mate threats at once.
Recognize the mechanism
The queen combines rank, file and diagonal attacks. Scan for a checking destination that also attacks a loose piece, then verify the second target is genuinely reachable along a clear line.
Common practical mistake
The queen’s value makes an unsafe destination costly. Do not overlook a simple capture while counting the threats the queen creates.
